Value Statement

1. Training Center activities will be carried out collectively with our academic and practice partners.

2. The Center seeks to maximize resources across academic and practice partners.

3. Training will be decentralized and located in a variety of sites convenient to the participants.

4. The Center will seek to create training opportunities for the public health workforce that that emphasize the impact of training on practice.

5. Training Center will build on successful experiences and techniques of other training initiatives and centers.

6. The Center will create a process for the selection of training courses and trainers that is equitable.

7. Training will be designed to be responsive to needs of participants and will be "customer-focused."

8. Adult learning principles will be applied throughout training.

9. Training materials will include clearly defined learning objectives and structured within the framework of the 10 essential services of public health.

10. Training will utilize multiple delivery methods.

11. Training will utilize a multidisciplinary and inclusive approach.

12. Training Center will focus on the existing public health workforce, broadly defined.

13. Training Center appreciates the importance of a diverse workforce and will therefore reach out to minority and underserved populations.

14. Training Center recognizes the importance of early exposure to public health and will therefore seek to prepare future public health practitioners by providing internships for high school students.
